Procaine Penicillin G and Dihydrostreptomycin Sulphate Injection
Composition:
Contains per ml:
Procaine Penicillin G 200,000 IU.
Dihydrostreptomycin Sulphate 200 mg.
Indications:
Effective against arthritis, mastitis, and infections of the gastrointestinal, respiratory, and urinary tracts caused by microorganisms sensitive to penicillin and dihydrostreptomycin. Effective against pathogens including Campylobacter, Clostridium, Corynebacterium, E. coli, Erysipelothrix, Haemophilus, Klebsiella, Listeria, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus spp. For use in calves, cattle, goats, sheep, and swine.
Dosage and Administration:
For intramuscular administration:
Cattle: 1 ml per 20 kg body weight for 3 days.
Calves, goats, sheep, and swine: 1 ml per 10 kg body weight for 3 days.
Shake well before use. Do not administer more than 20 ml to cattle, 10 ml to swine, or 5 ml to calves, sheep, and goats per injection site.
Administer by deep intramuscular injection.
Observe normal aseptic precautions.
Recommended dosage rate: 8 mg/kg body weight procaine penicillin with 10 mg/kg body weight dihydrostreptomycin sulphate, equivalent to 1 ml per 25 kg body weight. Treatment should be given once daily for up to three consecutive days. Maximum dose volume at one site: 15 ml for horses, 6 ml for cattle, 3 ml for sheep, and 1.5 ml for pigs.
Side Effects:
Administration of therapeutic dosages of procaine penicillin G can result in abortion in sows.
May cause ototoxicity, neurotoxicity, or nephrotoxicity.
Possible hypersensitivity reactions.
Withdrawal Times:
Kidney: 45 days.
Meat: 21 days.
Milk: 3 days.
Shelf Life:
3 years.
