Procain Penicillin G Injectable Suspension(For Veterinary Use Only)COMPOSITION Each vial contains: Procain Penicillin G 4,000,000 IU Excipient(ad.) up to 10ml INDICATION It is indicated for use in cattle and pigs and for the treatment and control of a wide range of common systemic, respiratory, urinary and local infections caused by or associated with organisms sensitive to penicillin including: Actinomyces pyogenes, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Streptococcus spp. The product will therefore be effective in the treatment of infections, caused by susceptible organisms including: Erysipelas; navel/joint-ill; respiratory tract infections including pneumonia and atrophic rhinitis; meningitis; septicaemia; urogenital tract infections and the control of secondary bacterial invaders in diseases primarily of viral origin. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION The recommended dose is 6 ml per 100 kg bodyweight i.e. 24,000 IU procaine penicillin For intramuscular administration only. Cattle:6ml per 100Kg; Calf:3ml per 50Kg;Sheep:1.5ml per 25kg; Lamb:0.4ml per 10Kg;Sow:4.5ml per 75Kg;Piglet:0.3ml per 5kg. The maximum dose volume recommended at any one site for Cattle is 20 ml CAUTIONS In case of anaphylactic or allergic reaction (acute respiratory distress, mouth breathing, recumbency), administer epinephrine immediately to prevent death. In pigs, the administration of this product may occasionally cause a fever, vomiting, shivering, listlessness, incoordination and possible, death. In pregnant sows and gilts, it may result in abortions. In horses, procaine penicillin G is occasionally associated with excitement and may cause pain at the site of injection. Repeated use of the same injection site may intensify these effects. WITHDRAWL TIME: Cattle: Meat and Offal: 7 days Milk: 72 hours Sheep: Meat and Offal: 7 days Milk: Not to for use in lactating ewes producing milk for human consumption. Pigs: Meat and Offal: 7 days SHELF LIFE: 2 years STORAGE:Protect from light and store in a cool dry place and below 25ºC. |
