Sulfadimidine is a potent bactericidal medication effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative micro-organisms, including Corynebacterium, E.coli, Fusobacterium necrophorum, Pasteurella, Salmonella, and Streptococcus spp. It works by disrupting bacterial purine synthesis, leading to a blockade of essential processes.
Used for treating gastrointestinal, respiratory, and urogenital infections, mastitis, and panaritium caused by sulfadimidine-sensitive micro-organisms in calves, cattle, goats, sheep, and swine.
Avoid in animals with hypersensitivity to sulfonamides or those with severe renal and/or liver impairment or blood dyscrasias.
Possible hypersensitivity reactions.
Administer subcutaneously or intramuscularly. Initial dose of 3 - 6 ml per 10 kg body weight on the first day, followed by 3 ml per 10 kg body weight for 2 - 5 days.
Meat: 10 days. Milk: 4 days.
Avoid concurrent use with iron and other metals.
