(For Veterinary Use Only) Composition Doxycycline (as doxycycline hyclate) 100 mg Excipients to1 ml Description Oral solution for use in drinking, yellow or brownish-yellow clarified solution. Indications For Chicken: Prevention and treatment of chronic respiratory disease (CRD) and mycoplasmosis caused by microorganisms sensitive to doxycycline. For Pigs: Prevention of clinical respiratory disease due to Pasteurella multocida and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae sensitive to doxycycline. The presence of the disease in the herd should be established before treatment. Contra indications Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to tetracyclines. Do not use in animals with hepatic dysfunction. Do not use in young/growing animals. Side effects Allergic and photosensitivity reactions can occur. Intestinal flora may be affected if treatment is very prolonged, and this may result in digestive disturbance. Dosage and Administration Oral route, via drinking water -CHICKEN: 10 - 20 mg of doxycycline / kg bw / day for 3-5 days (i.e. 0.5-1.0 ml of product / litre of drinking water / day). -PIGS: 10 mg of doxycycline / kg b.w. / day for 5 days (i.e. 1 ml of product / 10 kg b.w. / day). To ensure a correct dosage bodyweight should be determined as accurately as possible to avoid underdosing. The uptake of medicated water depends on the clinical condition of the animals. In order to obtain the correct dosage the concentration of doxycycline has to be adjusted accordingly. Use appropriate and properly calibrated dosing equipment. Medicated water should be the only drinking source. The medicated water is only usable for 24 hours and should be made freshly every day. The remaining medicated water should be disposed of in accordance with local requirements. If no improvement in clinical signs is seen within the treatment duration, the diagnosis should be reviewed and treatment changed.
